I didn’t want to…

I didn’t plan on putting my hat in the ring, concerning the Will Smith fiasco.  Not that I didn’t have an opinion…but for personal reasons, I just wasn’t going down that road.  But throughout the past seven days, I’ve:

  •     Debated several co-workers
  •     Been enlightened by several coworkers
  •     Responded against several points online for or against his actions
  •     Taught several women who DM’d me to find out my opinion on the incident in which they supported (as women), and then after I taught them what manhood was, they understood why I believed he failed.
  •     Watched certain Youtubers and entertainers such as:  Kevin Samuels, Joe Rogan, Shanno Sharpe & Skipp, The Rational Male [Rollo Tomassi], Jim Carrey, Howard Stern, Charles Barkely, Magic Johnson, etc.

After watching hours of this material come across my timeline, I realized several  things:

  1. I am a blogger.
  2. It is my duty to report on anything that has to do with manhood and see if we can learn from that event.
  3. People…males included, have no idea on how to conduct themselves as men.  And they let females guide them into destruction.

So anyway, it’s my duty to teach aspects of the VIrdoe Doctrine, concerning this big mess.

First off, what in the hell happened?

Monday morning as I entered my Agency, I turned on my phone to see a clip of Will Smith bitch slapping Chris Rock.  I thought it was a joke.  I turned it off and went about my way.  As the day went on, I began to realize this may have been true.  Well, what happened?

On Sunday, March 27th, 2022, the 94th Academy Awards was being held on live television.  To be honest, the last time I watched it was as a kid because, as a family, we’d watch it.  Apparently, over the last decade, the viewing had been going down anyway.

I was under the assumption that Chris Rock was the Host of the show…but at the time, he was presenting an award for the best documentary.  Traditionally speaking, the Academy Awards show tends to hire comedians.  They usually make fun of stars in the crowd to humble them. This is called Roasting. Everyone knows this.  The jokes are light. Everyone either smiles or laughs.  For example, sometime during that night, Jeff Bezoz was made fun of by Chris Rock:

“Jeff Bezos is here. “-Chris Rock

“Wow, great actor!”-(Someone in the background)

“Jeff Bezos is so rich, he got divorced and he’s still the richest man in the world.  He saw ‘Marriage Story’ and thought it was a comedy!”-Chris Rock

Even Bezos laughed.  Others were made fun of as usual.

Will Smith and his wife were sitting front row that evening. He was going to win his first Oscar for best actor for a recent movie that he acted in called King Richard.  It was based on Venus and Serena Williams’ father who, as their first coach, taught them tennis and fought for them to play tennis at the time when blacks weren’t really welcomed in that sport.

Anyway, Chris was front stage cracking jokes on people, and then he started his joke concerning Jada Pinket Smith, who has been a film and television actress in her own right for over twenty years:

‘Jada, I love you.  G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?”  ( the crowd laughs).  It’s…that was a nice one!  Okay.  I’m out here…”

The audience is laughing.  Then the camera turns to Will Smith and his wife.  Will Smith is laughing.  This is a room full of actors.  They are familiar with the Demi Moore movie that came out in 1997 called G.I. Jane.  A story of a woman who attempts to enter one of the Special Forces branches of the military, the elite level, and she succeeds.  Her hair is shaved in the movie.  Jada Pinkett’s hair is shaved.  The joke made sense.  It wasn’t offensive.  Well…this is where things changed…

Again, Will Smith was laughing.  Everyone was laughing.  Will looks over at his wife while he’s laughing at the joke and notices that Jada puts her head down and shows that she’s not happy at the joke.  The camera goes back to Chris Rock on stage.

Chris is laughing with his hands behind his back, and he sees Will Smith walking up on stage towards him.  They have known each other for over two decades.  So, being that Will is a comedian himself, he probably thought Will was coming up to clown on him also.  As Will walks towards him, Chris begins to say “King Ri..” and before he can complete his sentence, Will Smith slaps the shit out of him, turns around, and then walks back to his seat.

Chris is in shock, plays it off, and says:

“Oh, wow! (shakes his head) Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me.”  (the audience laughs)

Everyone is in shock. Others are wondering if this is real or acting.  Then what Will Smith says next confirms this wasn’t a planned skit.  He says:

“Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!”

Chris Rock replies:

“Wow, dude!”

Smith responds:

“Yes”

Rock then says:

“It was a G.I. Jane joke.”

Will Smith then repeats himself louder:

“Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth!”

Rock then replies:

“I’m going to, okay? …That was a …greatest night in the history of television, okay….okay.

Later, we find out that Will Smith was asked to leave.  He doesn’t leave.  He refuses.  Then you can see Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry attempting to calm Will Smith down.

Apology

Sometime after the incident, Will receives his award for best actor in King Richard.  He gets on stage to receive his award and says:

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family.  In this time in my life,  in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world.  Making this film, I got to protect  Anujanue Ellis, who was one of the most strongest (and) most  delicate people  I ever met.  I got to protect Sinaa and Debbie…the two actresses that played Venus and Serena.   I’m being called on in my life to love people, and to protect people, and to be a river to my people. I know to do what we do you got to be able to take abuse.  You have to be able to have  people talk crazy about  you.  In this business, you have to able to have people  disrespecting you.  And you have to smile and pretend like that’s ok.

Richard Williams…and what I loved (Denzel Washington said something in the background) …Thank you D (Denzel).   Denzel said to me  a few minutes ago, ‘At your highest moment, be careful.  Because that’s when the devil comes for you.’

It’s like…I want to be a vessel for love.  I want to say thank you to Venus and Serena and the entire Williams family for entrusting me with your story.  That’s what I want to do.  I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love, care, and concern.

I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees.  This is a beautiful moment.  And I’m not crying for winning an award.  It’s not about winning an award for me.  It’s about  being able to shine light on all of the people… Art imitates life.  l look like the crazy father.   Just like they said about  Richard Williams, but love will make you do crazy things…Thank you, I hope the Academy invites me back…“
