2)Mr. Signature Scent

I have a good friend of mine who was really good at getting women. In the Pick up artist world, he would be known as a natural.  I’m assuming that he’s a natural from watching him for over fifteen years.  But I’m also aware that he grew up with his uncles who were a few years older than him.  Maybe he learned the art of getting women from them. I’ve never asked him, and maybe the next time we chat I’ll bring it up, but one thing for certain, he was good.

Watching him work was very educational for me.  I learned alot of things from observing him work.  He was so good at whatever he was “doing” to them, that women would bring other women to him to “meet” him!  I saw this with my own two eyes!  I’ve seen two women who were friends share him at one point!  Yes!  I saw this.  I am not lying to you.  He also taught me how to protect women’s reputation from other women.  Women would come to him and directly ask him about other women.  He’d firmly tell them in a professional manner to mind their business, and then the women in a- “he passed the test” manner would give him their number!  I saw this over and over and over again.

He was the one who taught me about this signature scent concept.  Before he had a conversation with me on this concept, my coworkers and I would notice if he was previously in an area, by a scent.  No it wasn’t pungent at all.  It wasn’t even a cologne…it was cocoa butter. It was a pleasant scent.  But if you were in close proximity to him, you can smell his scent.  And come to think of it, the women that he had had relations with would hug him and lay their heads on his chest…now I’m realizing to take a deep inhale of what he was wearing. Sidenote…he was over 6 feet tall…way over 6 ft tall.

Anyway, over a period of time, he revealed to me that he had a mentor.  This was a long time before I had a mentor.  And come to find out, his mentor used to be a Pimp when he was in his 20’s.  His mentor was a retired federal employee who was currently a successful business owner and was married.

His mentor taught him alot of things about life, business and….women… and the art of catching them.  He taught him, that:

…A man should have a signature scent.  This scent should be the only thing that he wears.  And wearing this scent consistently, he marks the mind of people that he comes in contact with.  And concerning the women, even when the relationship is done, whenever she smells that scent, she will always remember you.  5,10,15, 20 years down the road…she will remember your scent.  And that’s what you want.

And when you think about it, his mentor was correct.  We knew when he was in an area, because of his scent.  He marked our minds with his scent.  And yes, whenever we smell that scent…even when (God forbid) he one day passes on him, we will always remember him.  So I guess it does work!

So if you want to be a signature cent guy, you must begin your journey of finding a signature scent that you will wear consistently everyday.  Make sure that you get a cosign by certain that you respect that it’s a good scent.  You also figure out if it’s a strong or mild scent, and figure out how much to wear so as not to be that guy…who everyone is annoyed that you bathe inthat stuff!  You don;t want to be that guy.  More on that later.

3)Mr 3 Bottles

Mr. 3 bottles wears a cologne for several “terrains”

  1. Work
  2. clubbing/dating
  3. weekends/dressed down

The work cologne is usually not as strong as to not offend his co-workers.  Most of the time, it is safe.  The clubbing and dating is to attract women with hopes of bringing them home.  The last one is for the khakis or shorts.  Some guys may not even wear any cologne

4)Mr. Seasons

Certain Fellows follow the mantra, of wearing colognes based on the seasons.  Because of this, he may wear colognes for:

  1. Spring/summer
  2. Fall/winter

This kind of makes sense.  The colognes that smell like the beach or citrusy may be a good cologne to wear in the warm to hot months.  In the winter months, he may choose to wear something a little heavier.  The heavier colognes fit with the leather and wool coats he’ll soon be wearing.  It fits the Leather boots and the warm sweaters that he’lll soon be wearing too!  Furthermore, in those winter months, you also have to worry about being in those small rooms for meetings…you don’t want to over power the whole room.  What if you live in Florida or California where it’s always warm?  Well, then you’ll probably wear the colognes that are fit for those warm weather areas.  If he’s in a cold climate environment, he might not wear a “summertime” cologne.  Or… he might wear it.  It’s all up to him

5)Mr. Flow

I would consider myself as a Mr. Flow.  Mr. Flow is an artist when it comes to style.  O fcourse, there’s levels in each of these three categories.  I’m not a  over the top type…but I’m definitely a Mr. Flow.  Mr Flow, considers it imprisonment to wear the same dam cologne everyday for the rest of his life!  In fact…Mr. FLow may consider it imprisonment to wear the same:

  • Watch
  • Cologne
  • Fine writing instruments
  • Glasses
  • tea/coffee
  • Meal
  • Liquor/wine
  • Etc.

Mr. Flow chooses which colognes to wear that day based on how he feels that day or what he’s going to wear.  A more advanced fellow may have 10, 20, 30 plus colognes! IMy sister recently was shocked at the amount of colognes that I have.  But Some of my bottles are as old as 2001!  Some of my colognes are so rare, discontinued or expensive that I only wear them on special occasions.

Parental Gifts

In my agency over the years, I’v met  many men and women that came from middle class families that rewarded them for completing college.  The guys usually received their first Rolex…usually a “plain-Jane” Rolex- The Submariner.

And the women tended to receive a Cartier tank-face timepiece.

Another gift they’ll usually get was their first Mont Blanc pen.

Because it is a sentimental piece, they tend to wear it quite often to remember their parents and their accomplishments.  Even if I did receive this, I still couldn’t wear it everyday!  I’d wear it a couple of times in the month.  Because anymore than that would be too constricting!

1st string, 2nd String…

An elder taught me a long time ago, to save my more pricier colognes for special occasions.  Eventually, I separated my colognes into teams.  I’d advise you   I separated them into:

  • 3rd String
  • 2nd String
  • 1st String
  • Exclusives

3rd String

My third string are my least expensive colognes.  They tend to be no more than forty dollars.  They also are not that strong.  They are also colognes that I’m experimenting with.  And of course they are colognes that I pick up form Marshalls or other stores.

It’s not often, but sometimes when I’m running late for work or meetings, I’ll forget to wear cologne.  And since I feel like my cologne is a part of my “uniform”, I have to wear something. Uniform?  Yes, uniform.  My uniform consists of a: watch, ring, belt, cologne, a writing instrument, phone, etc. In some circles it could be considered as EDCs (Everyday Carries).    So after realizing that this was an issue that I had from time to time, I decided to keep some colognes in both of my glove compartments, at work, in my gym bag, etc.

Some of my third strings are: 50 cent’s “Power” cologne, Insurrection, Hawthorn “work”, Hawthorn-Play (designed colognes), Sean John Cologne Unforgivable, Territoire, Esencia Loewe, Michael, Hugh Parsons, etc.

Furthermore, my third string are colognes that I’m phasing out of my collection.  I phase out things that I’ve outgrown, weren’t impactful or just tired of the scent.  If I’m just disgusted with the scent, I’ll give it to the Salvation Army.

2nd String

My Second string colognes  are pricier. They are about fifty-five dollars-sixty dollars and more.   I don’t wear them as often, because My third string is rather deep!  If i’m in the mood I’ll wear them.  If I’m going to wear a suit or feel extra cocky, then I’ll go into my second string.  And if I’m feeling extra sporty or just feeling like the 80’s era…it Polo time!

My second string consists of: Polo (green bottle), Aramis, Safari, Bellagio, Dirty Laundry,  etc.

1st String

My first string are Pricey.  Period.  Those are “date night” colognes are just feeling extra extra extra cocky!  If I’m wearing a tux, I’ll go there too!

Some of my first strings are as follows:  Tom Ford, Creeds (Aventus, Green Irish Tweeds, Viking), Boucherons (Jaipur Homme EDP, Pour Homme EDP), Roja, Clive christain, etc.

Exclusives

My exclusives are:

  • Discontinued colognes that are hard to find or pricey
  • Seductive
  • Way too rare or expensive to wear on a regular basis.

The exclusives that come to mind are:

  1. Tommy Bahama
  2. Ralph Lauren Chaps
  3. Ralph Lauren Romance

As for the name of the colognes that I have that are seductive or rare…well…that’s personal.

So, if you haven’t gone down this road, do yourself a favor and choose a “style”.  Or…just try them all until you find what fits you.
